I'm looking forward to the start of the new season October 5th. (Nice little Iraq metaphor with Matt's dad -- he's supposedly so concerned with taking care of the people in Iraq but he's unwilling or unable to take care of his own home). Then there's Tyra and the little boy next door to Riggins.

Coach Taylor ends up being the father figure for most of these. And yet by the end of the season even he's abandoning them.

Thanks for your well-written review of this great series.Steve Terrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16028545309706643748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-66140029966240394312007-05-11T09:33:00.000-07:002007-05-11T09:33:00.000-07:00Jill - I am so glad that you have become a FNL dev...Jill - I am so glad that you have become a FNL devotee. I am excited to report that today it was announced that FNL will get a full pick up for next season (2007/2008). I look forward to seeing where the show heads in the next season. The way they pout and act out, and their general self-centeredness, makes them seem a lot more naive and untested than, clearly, they are supposed to be.

Thanks for the responses.

Yours, jdJill Dolanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09674110837402216325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-39192300960833509482007-05-02T17:55:00.000-07:002007-05-02T17:55:00.000-07:00Your blog about FNL was right on the money. I've never seen anything like it on television.

It just feels so real, like I could drive down to Dillon, Texas and meet all these people. I WANT to meet all these people because this show has made me care about them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-25115098874765513322007-05-02T12:54:00.000-07:002007-05-02T12:54:00.000-07:00That was a really great post. Thank you for writing so thoughtfully about FNL, which I believe is the best show to come to TV in a long, long time.Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02867243852098626425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-21413619411146751262007-05-02T10:26:00.000-07:002007-05-02T10:26:00.000-07:00WORD! FNL is the best thing on TV - and I so hope it gets renewed.

As for Grey's.... I feel my watching-with-rapt-attention days are long over.

Thanks for a great post!Jen. They are NOT. Each one of them is the HEAD of their respective departments: Mark- Plastics, Addison-OB/GYN, Derek- Neurosurgery and Burke, Cardio-thoracic. And the reason that Bailey isn't in the running is because she IS a resident. Callie is a resident and Syndey is a resident. There are doctors, two-four years out of medical school to be precise! Despite her awesomeness, this makes Bailey completely unqualified for the job--at this time. The Chief has said that ONE day she would be chief, but not now. Not when there are four other candidates who, after the YEARS or medical practice as full fledged surgeons, are at the tops of their fields. So this, in fact, is not an instance where Grey's has lost is color blinders. It's actually common sense.

This is the second article/blog that I've read that erroneously refers to the candidates for Chief of Surgery as residents. I know Grey's is off its game, (I hate how the treat Callie and George and Izzie's soulmatedness is nauseating) but how do you get this kind of thing wrong?! It one of the obstacles to Derek/Meredith and Burke/Christina. They guys were attendings and women were interns.

Otherwise, I love your what you have to say about FNL and have no real quible with your criticisms of Grey's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-67623621834274045032007-05-02T08:30:00.000-07:002007-05-02T08:30:00.000-07:00I totally agree with your review Friday Night Ligh...I totally agree with your review Friday Night Lights I only wish more people would fall in love with it and boost ratings to a point where we don't have to worry about renewal or cancellation.

One thing I want to point out is that the fact that Bailey is not in the running for chief has nothing to do with the fact that she is an African American women but that she is a Resident she does not have the "rank" to be chief.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15793244.post-73275964067063779392007-05-01T10:37:00.000-07:002007-05-01T10:37:00.000-07:00I just read this entire post, and I have to say, I...I just read this entire post, and I have to say, I couldn't agree more with every single word that you wrote. Friday Night Lights is the future of TV, and Grey's has become something so trite and cliche, I can't even bring myself to watch anymore.

Wonderful post, thank you for writing it.steplianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619192423485921717noreply@blogger.com
